Spring Clothing Haul. *OLD* (reposted from last year)

*click on the pictures above for a closer look ;)

1. Blue Wilfred Silk spaghetti strap, Aritzia $55 ... not worth it. At value village they have a million of these, all real silk, very 90's. All for less than 10$. If I could to go back in time I would not buy this. It looks good on, because of the intense colour... but thats about it. Me and Leslie found a beautiful black one and a lilac one at Value Village just days afterwards...that looked exactly the same. no joke. & not only that but the price you'll have to pay for dry cleaning when a little spot gets on the 55$ one, it is definitely NOT worth the purchase. haha, darn... Aritzia you win again.

2. Slate Grey/white Graphic tank top $20-$25 ...worth it. For this cotton, relaxed style tank be sure to get a size up. baggy is better when it comes to this style. Looks good with leggings & a pair of aviators. Easy to wash. not too badly priced.

3. Backless tulip shaped Floral top, Costa Blanca $20 ... Definitely worth it! This top is beautiful. Costa Blanca is SO hit or miss. im not a huge fan of it, but on the occasion that I do find something there that I like, I love it. and usually wear it mulitiple times a week. havent been able to so that yet with this one, because its too scandalous with the open back, but when summer comes... oh baby. Looks good with a high waisted pair of shorts if your a little modest and want to cover up your back a little bit more, and low rise jeans and heels for a sexier look. Its great because it sits just perfectly to cover your bra!... I love this one. The picture doesn't even do it justice.

4. Turquoise cropped spaghetti strap with scalloped and embellished hem, Forever 21 $17 ... Worth it. colour is very trendy right now, the minty-tourqouise, and its just a fun, pretty, girly top that looks more expensive then it actually was because of the beading and the material.

5. Pleated floral spaghetti strap, Forever 21 $10 ...Worth it. Another score from Forever 21. yesssssss.

6. Purple Lace t-shirt, Bluenotes $11 ...WORTH IT. This is a total knockoff of what aritzia offers, but for a fraction of the price, and a better fit. I tried on the tops in aritzia and almost bought one, but it looked way too boxy on me, and made everyone who tried it on look like they have wide shoulders. this one from bluenotes has the exact same look, and feel but its cut is much more girly and feminine.

7. Red Button-up blouse, H&M $14 ...Worth it. dress it up or dress it down, the colour is beautiful and its so versatile and easy. you can even wear it open as a spring cover up over a tank top underneath.

8. Sepia toned floral lace top, Babaton, Aritzia $90 ...mmm....i guess its worth it. Because i have had it for SO long, and i always get compliments on it. But because the material is so delicate you need to keep paying for upkeep, with drycleaning and whatnot so it is kind of high maintenance. But I would still say its worth it because I was in love with it at the time. & still wear it often.

9. Cream coloured Tie-front blouse $10 ...worth it. easy peasy.

10. Cream coloured Boyfriend boyfriend style Blazer, Thrifted $4 ...worth it. i was going to buy a new one because they were so tendy it felt like everyone had one but me, but they range anywhere from 60-250$ and up! ...so i looked at VV and I found this one. I really like it :)..and 4$?? please. thats less than a coffee these days.

11. Cream cropped wilfred top, Aritzia $35... worth it! Goes with everything. especially a ripped pair of jeans.

12. Oatmeal coloured knitted cardigan with cutout details on front, Thrifted $3 easiest spring cardigan. looks good over the sepia-toned babaton top, that way your mixing completely cheap, with a more high end item. it adds interest to the outfit.

13. Denim button up, American Eagle $35 ... worth it.

14. Boyfriend Style dress shirt, American Eagle $50 ...not worth it, barely ever wear it because 'the boyfriend look' is aka 'I am drowning in it.'

15. 'Im dating the quarterback' Jacket (haha), Bluenotes $20....not worth it. Everyone has the exact same jacket as me. boring.

Saturday

Creme crochet & Summer sun

helloooo summer, where have you been all my life!?.... In the pics are: The top I got with my sister a while back from a vintage thrift store (its just a white crochet lace tank top),  a new Strapless navy blue romper with bow-tie belt from Dynamite & my most favourite recent purchase... my cream coloured (also crochet!) peep-toe pumps. I plan on wearing these on a sunny afternoon on a patio somewhere downtown sipping some white wine... & my guess is there will be many of these afternoons!

p.s! for some extra inspiration, take a little visit to my heart

Trend: Mom Jeans...

Me and my sister having fun trying on our new high waisted shorts from AE. Pairing them with crop tops and vintage T's is quite fun. Can't wait to try and pull these off in public haha, but we'll have to wait another 2 weeks until dominican to put them on....soo... in the suitcase they go, until then :)

Monday

Oscar favourite: Mila Kunis

What kind of blogger would I be if I didn't blog (at least a little bit) about the Oscars?! High fashion is not my expertise, although i can definitely let you know who my fave was. Although everyone in the entire blogosphere is doing the same thing...bloggers gotta do what a bloggers gotta do! haha. They happened just last night and bashfully, I admit to going to sleep at a wimpy 7:00 due to a crazy weekend and wicked headache. So therefore I missed the actual awards show... and what a shame too, because my husband (James Franco) *wink*wink was hosting alongside the always beautiful Anne Hathaway.

This dress by Elie Saab caught my eye the most. Love the cut, colour, shape and all that lacey, drapey texture in all the right places. The understated silver and diamond accessories are perfect along with the nude toned clutch and nail polish. Pastels can sometimes be hard to wear on certain skin tones because it washes a lot of people out, but her slightly olive skin tone is actually complimented by it. This is a colour and style I think we will be seeing a lot of come spring.

Tuesday

February Clothing Haul

I can't wait to wear this trench coat  that I got last week with a little black dress underneath and some black patent pumps now that the weather is a little bit nicer (well at least for the time being). I took off the original belt that it came with and replaced it with my own vintage leather belt that I found a long time ago and I have been looking for a place to put it. The jacket is perfect for spring because it has a cute little polka dot lining on the inside so its still nice and warm. & the best part it that I totally match inspector gadget.

:) xoxo

4. H&M coral lace bra (first bra not bought at aerie in years and I must say I'm quite impressed)
5. Lush 'iced wine' shower jelly (Smells too good!)
6. Silver jewellery (gold is out!) one from local jewellery store, other one from H&M
8. Essie #10 blanc
9. Heels in second photo from Costa Blanca accessories (only $15!!)
10. Magazine: ELLE canada February 2011

February is the most depressing month of the year (its proven). SO, I have kept my mind distracted from the -20 degree temperatures by focusing on spring and how quickly these last few weeks have flown by. I made a little photo collage of my favourite things right now (think, bright and cheery), Inspired a lot by Marc Jacobs spring/summer 2011.

The magazine spread that appears in my photos above, and inspired me for the look was from ELLE Canada's trend report entitled 'Spring Awakening' (pg. 99). It says "Luxe Gypsies, boho hippies and punky gals put on a brilliant show... Bring on the highlighter hues, disco purples and breezy whites...It's sheer madness!" ...And I'm loving it.

Sunday

polaroid loveletter

2 most favourite things at this moment:

1. Bathing suit by Aerie (here). Although I can't wear this to the beach for at least another 4 months.

2. Tiffany's double heart sterling silver pendant necklace, in their classic turquoise. Birthday gift from dad. so sweet.

3. My new pierced navel. eeeeeep! (I was feeling spontaneous.)

Tuesday

declarations of love.

Len, over at 'A little Hamster ' has these adorable little necklaces... My heart fluttered a tiny bit when I saw the note carrying pendant. Perfect for a hopeless romantic. I bet any girl would love this as a valentines day gift.

Or do people even still celebrate valentines day anymore??  to cliche?
 ...Whatever. Cute Jewellery.

"These new necklaces are a declaration of love. I found both of them in Asia and are limited editions from Made by lennebelle. The antique heart shaped pendant which is a little box as well, was used to keep tabaco but you can put a sweet reminder in it. The other one I like to call ‘secret message necklace’, you can put just any note in it! Something between you and your love. And of course the ‘You are my number 1′ necklace is a pure declaration of love."

p.s  her blog is cute too!

p.p.s  I love when I find cool stuff on the internet.

Thursday

very aerie.

oh a winter with no snow...

just not the same.

but definitely a nice thought.

Tuesday

simple dressings.

I love Rachel Bilson and Jennifer Aniston's simple and understated style. I hate difficult, fussy, overdone clothes. Even the way they pair heels with denim makes them look put together effortlessly. I think you should wear the clothes, the clothes shouldn't wear you... so sometimes having tights, a high waisted skirt, a blouse, a necklace, a tank top, a belt etc etc... pulling together to make an outfit,  you sometimes get lost and drown in the clothes, and its a big mess. I think Neutrals and subtle prints are key and always layering simple cottons.

Thursday

Im diggin' this vintage kinda vibe.

"Why Don't You Love Me" - Beyoncé from Beyoncé on Vimeo.

So... Im not really a fan of Beyonce's music at all, but i do LOVE this video. If i were famous, my music videos would all look like this. And now i will be on the lookout for that robins egg blue shade of nail polish she's wearing that matches that cool vintage phone! & that floral corset??! so cute.

p.s i know i have been lazy lately with this whole blogging thing... but its because im just enjoying my summer! (and also because i left my laptop charger back downtown and when my laptop died two weeks ago, well... i was out of luck)

p.p.s expect posts to be posted on a daily basis again soon! (photos need uploading etc.)

Friday

only one more thing on the list...

With cuba being only 2 weeks away (pretty much)... i don't really have anything else left to get. i have got all my bikinis, tanktops, dresses, shorts, sandals etc. BUT the most important thing is missing, SUNGLASSES. They are going to be worn almost everyday on this vacation and in the summertime...and i have absolutely zerrrooooo tolerance, attention and motivation to pick out a couple pairs that look good on me. every single pair i try on, look horrriblle... almost like a bad 80's rap video substituted with my loser self. like do i go for the wholee trendy, hipster, everybody else look and go for the Ray Ban Wayfarers that Olivia Palermo is wearing in the top picture???? or should i look like a giant bug and go for a morreee fashionistaa-ish, mod kinda look with the huge round bug eye ones that the olsen twins wear??? orr should i go for the badass, dont mess with me, cop-y kinda look that Taylor Momsen is wearing in the last picture?? ..... seee i don't know, and these are only three options there are tens of zillion kabillions, and bottom line is immm frustrated! SORRY about this rant. :)

Thursday

puddle jumping scheduled for tomorrow.

I stumbled upon this bright leprechaun green trench coat on 'Because Magazine' by Vanessa Bruno and thought to myself how lovely it would be to splash around in all these puddles in this coat and my amazing sunshine yellow rubber boots and one of these multicolored umbrellas...... yeahhh maybe not.
I might scare people with my blinding color palette.

But she makes me want to at least bust out my red lipstick (only for special occasions).... while wearing my yellow wellies mom got me.

we'll see. maybe tomorrow....
